Research experience

MSc research: invasive Round Goby detection and removal

University of Toronto

  • Collaborate with a five-person team using seine netting, minnow trapping, and eDNA collection for field-based detection and removal.
  • Record fish counts, environmental conditions, and sampling locations for each detection method.
  • Preparing planned behavioural and acoustic experiments that will examine deterrence and attraction.

Field, lab & data research assistant

Grogan Lab · Queen’s University

  • Established and maintained field plots, measured species richness, and tracked labelled harvests for laboratory analysis.
  • Identified 36 plant species and processed more than 1,000 plant samples.
  • Harvested and sorted tundra plants and mosses by species for a long-term summer-warming experiment in the Arctic.

Selected projects

Species diversity in an Ontario grassland

Analyzed ecological data in R, presented a research poster, and authored a literature-integrated synthesis paper.

Impact of road salt in a Lake Ontario mesocosm

Developed a laboratory mesocosm, examined aquatic organisms with light microscopy, and investigated salinity effects.
